What is dry eye?

Dry eye is a common condition caused by inadequate tear production or poor tear quality, leading to discomfort, redness, sensitivity to light, and sometimes blurred vision. Treatment options include:

Artificial Tears

Over-the-counter eye drops provide lubrication and relief from dryness. When artificial tears is not enough, it's time for a thorough evaluation to get to the root of the problem.

Lifestyle Changes

Strategies such as avoiding highly ventilated areas, avoiding excessive screen time, and taking regular breaks can alleviate symptoms. Changes in caffeine intake, water intake, and diet could help alleviate dry eye symptoms as well.

Light Therapy

Light therapy is a non-invasive treatment option that uses low-level red light energy to stimulate tear production and improve the function of tear producing glands, treating the main cause of your dry eyes.

Prescription Eye Drops

There are a variety of medications available that help to produce tears such as Restasis, Xiidra, Meibo, and Tyrvaya. Contact us to see if you are eligible for any of these medications.

Punctal Plug Occlusion

This treatment option involves placing a collagen or silicone plug to block the tear duct that drains tears. This is effective for certain dry eye types. Punctal plugs can be temporary or permanent.

IPL therapy

IPL therapy is an FDA-approved non-invasive treatment option that involves using intense pulses of light to stimulate the glands around the eyes, enhancing the natural production of oils to lubricate the eyes. By targeting the root cause of dry eyes, IPL therapy can alleviate symptoms and provide long lasting relief.

Always consult an eye care professional to determine the best treatment plan for your specific condition.
